A/C Compressors For Peterbilt Trucks
The compressor is the heart of your Peterbilt's air conditioning system, pressurizing and circulating refrigerant to deliver cold air to the cab. A worn or failed compressor means no cooling at all, which can make driving conditions miserable and even dangerous in hot weather. We carry new and remanufactured A/C compressors built to OEM specifications for Peterbilt trucks equipped with PACCAR and Cummins engines.
Frequently asked questions about A/C compressors
What are common signs of a failing A/C compressor?
Look for reduced cooling performance, unusual grinding or squealing noises when the A/C engages, visible refrigerant leaks near the compressor, or the A/C clutch failing to engage. If the compressor pulley wobbles or the clutch is slipping, it's time for a replacement.
Should I replace the clutch assembly when I replace the compressor?
In most cases, yes. The clutch is a wear item, and installing a new compressor with a worn clutch can lead to premature failure. Many replacement compressors come with the clutch included, but if yours does not, replacing both at the same time is a worthwhile investment.
Do I need to flush the A/C system when replacing the compressor?
Flushing is strongly recommended, especially if the old compressor failed internally. Metal debris and contaminated oil can circulate through the system and damage the new compressor, condenser, or expansion valve. You should also replace the receiver drier and add the correct amount of fresh PAG or POE oil.
